The church financial year runs January to December. By the following September, an annual audit of our accounts is performed by an independent accounting firm and submitted to both Companies House and the Charities Commission, where they become publicly available. Each autumn we prepare a working budget for the upcoming financial year, which starts in January. This is prepared by the finance team for the church elders, to meet the strategic priorities they set during the summer. It includes the forecast costs for the various ministries and activities we run, as well as buildings and utilities, administration and salaries costs. The finance team produce a monthly finance report for the senior leadership team (including the elders) which tracks income and expenditure throughout the year to see where adjustments need to be made.
In addition to our regular weekly offerings, we’ll hold "Gift Days" during the year to raise money over shorter periods of time for specific purposes.
