Get Set….GO..
Who are you running with this term?
Yep- it’s that time again… I’m back from holidays and realised that BBQs and glasses of wine are lovely but now is the time to go back to healthy eating and getting out for a run again! There’s something about having someone to run with that makes all the difference- I had one season where Ntombi & Esosa (Kerith Bracknell friends) and I would strap on head torches and head out super early (yep those 2 get up EARLY!) to jog together while sharing news and praying. It was a short season before life schedules changed but it was a great opportunity to be spiritually and emotionally healthy - literally running partners!
So what’s your plan this term? It might be to ask a friend to pray regularly with you over WhatsApp, have a regular lunchtime Zoom slot or share a YouVersion app devotional together (another Kerith friend showed me last week how her small group chat together about the devotional in the app itself!). Maybe some of us need to brave it this term and carve out time to be intentional with new friends and sign up to be part of/or even lead a 10-week small group. I always find I’m baulking at the time commitment but by the end of the term I’m convinced that it was only BECAUSE of the regular slot together that I have made such great new friends- it works to be consistent!
We have 3 weeks to make a plan before groups start w/c 26th September. So let’s ask God to whisper / shout / inspire us about what is spiritually and maybe physically ( dog walking group?) healthy for us this term.
“let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith,” Hebrews 12:1-2
Head to the Small Groups page to add in your ideas to lead a group or to keep an eye on the options as they come online.
Ben and I are also passionate about each of us finding a team where we can serve others both inside or outside of Sundays. Firstly, I want to honour all of you who have volunteered with us this past 6 months. We have an INCREDIBLE team at Kerith who love people through practical serving in this way. As we’ve reemerged from lockdowns, they have carried the load for us so brilliantly! We feel now is a great time to invite many more into our teams, ready for what God’s going to do in us and through us this coming academic year.
Our teams are geared up to serve 1 week in 4. We’ll give you training if it’s a new skill (cameras anyone?) and as part of a team you’ll soon get to know others as you learn and serve together. We have mid week opportunities and Sunday serving, whatever suits your diary!
To help you discover what’s out there we will have a ‘sign up to serve’ info point throughout September where you can ask questions and find out more about the teams. We’ll also be interviewing those already serving during our meeting. Perhaps the easiest way to get involved is to head to the web page Join our Team and take a look at all the options
So however or whoever you are choosing to run with this season - lets get ourselves ready for the starting line this September…
