Bracknell Summer Picnic

At the end of May this year, many of us had the opportunity to gather at Wildfires—a festival where friends from different streams, churches and communities come together to seek God and fan into flame the next Great Awakening. One of the highlights for us this year in our Kerith Village Tent and other breakout activities, was spending time with others from all across our church community.

There was fun and around the campfire, folks chatting during the afternoons while people of all ages played rounders and quick cricket, kids were sat playing board games with adults other than their own parents, youth hanging together - and entertaining the young kids – so many amazing conversations were had. There's evidently a feeling of a new depth of relationship for many of us having spent quality time with our church family outside a usual gathering.

In some ways, we get to do this on Sundays, in our small groups and courses as well as among our serving teams. However with different serving responsibilities, and everyone we need to catch quickly on a Sunday – it’s not always easy to get to know each other, is it? We love the buzz around coffee time, the pre- & post-meeting milling, but the time passes quickly, as we all leave to go home or out for lunch after the meeting.

So we've been thinking for a while - how can we create more opportunities to share life together with a sense of community? What might we plan, outside our regular structured meetings, to foster the growth of faith and friendship intergenerationally?

💡 Here's what we came up with! On Sunday 10th July, Kerith Bracknell will head over to Braybrooke Recreation Ground after our morning meeting for a picnic.

Come with your family and friends. Remember to bring along your picnic blankets, camping chairs if you have/need them, games and of course your picnic lunches! Let's enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, family, friends and community of all ages. You might even consider arranging a game of rounders for those wanting to do that. Please keep in mind that this is an event for all ages to mix together, to spend time with our church family and build on old friendships as well as make new ones.

Please note that you will be responsible for your kids and young people throughout the picnic so please do whatever you would normally do to keep your children safe at any public outing. Our Kids and Youth teams will not be on official duty for the picnic— they'll be enjoying the community time too—and as such will not be responsible for your children.

Date: Sunday, 10th July 2022

Venue: Braybrooke Recreation Ground, Makepiece Rd, Bracknell RG42 2HG
