Week of Prayer & Fasting
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
This Sunday evening we are going to be starting a week of prayer and fasting. All four of the Kerith sites will be seeking God together to give thanks for all He is doing and present our requests to Him.
I’ve been really encouraged by so much of what has been happening in Kerith Windsor over the last year. I often hear people saying how they have found a community they feel they can belong to that will help them grow in their faith. Always good to hear :) On top of that, we have seen so much other good stuff happening; our serving teams growing, new small groups, a parents and toddler group started, food-share connecting us to more and more people and also getting a building along with money to renovate it.
These blessing’s we are experiencing today, I believe, are the result of prayer.
I also believe God is just getting started with us. That He is calling us to so much more in the coming year - that too needs to begin with prayer!
So I want to encourage everyone who is part of Kerith Windsor to plug into this week of Prayer & Fasting. We’ll be praying for Kerith Windsor as well as Kerith as whole, our Nation, Ukraine, the Nations, healing, salvation and unity.
There are plenty of opportunities to engage throughout the week. Please take a look here: https://www.kerith.church/prayer
Then to finish the week off, we will be having our first Windsor in-person-prayer-gathering since the pandemic. This is on Friday 13th at 8pm in our Windsor building. Please come and join us if you can.
I would also like to encourage you to fast. You could fast food, social media or something else. If you would like to read about why we should fast and get some guidance on how to do it, please take a look at this article from the 24/7 prayer team; https://www.24-7prayer.com/prayer_guide/try-fasting/
A couple of years ago a group of us did a 7 day food fast. I personally experienced fruit from that in my spiritual life and I think the church has seen and experienced fruit from us all doing it too. If you’ve never fasted before I wouldn't advise doing that but perhaps start with one meal or one day.
So let’s all get involved as much as we can. Let’s each of us carve out time next week to Pray, Rejoice, Ask & Yield - so more of His Kingdom comes!
