Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteers: National Volunteer Week 2024

As National Volunteer Week 2024 comes to a close, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to acknowledge all the remarkable individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and passion in giving their time to our Social Action (Revive) projects.

Around 150 individuals make our projects work week in week out, serving our local communities in Bracknell, Farnborough, Windsor and West wight - selflessly contributing to make a world of difference to so many.

If you are a volunteer A HUGE THANK YOU! Thank you for your unwavering commitment, generosity in the time you give and for your heart to serve others. Whether you help in Revive or elsewhere your efforts are invaluable. We know all too well the fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, lived experiences and boundless energy each of you bring, not to mention the hours you dedicate that is making a real difference.

The work of our Revive volunteers touches the lives of both individuals and our wider communities and the kindness shown to help others in a time of need is what inspires others to give back. We are privileged to have so many volunteers on our teams who have witnessed first-hand the care and support shown to them in their own times of need who are now passing this on to others.

It’s not just about volunteering though, its about people finding connection, belonging and making new friends. Volunteering is a place where you are part of a wider family; where belonging, friendship and support is found.

One recent example of this is that of Peter who started volunteering with us in Bracknell Foodbank around 12 months ago when he wanted to give back.. He was concerned about his council tax rise and mentioned it to another volunteer who kindly helped him complete an online form to apply for a discount he was entitled to. Not a service that foodbank offers widely but talking to friends helps us all and this is what family does for each other! We’re pleased to say he now has his discount AND a rebate, and is so glad he asked for help - we love having Peter and others like him volunteer!

Our heart is that every person who volunteers across Revive feels supported and valued and we try to provide a meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience. As part of this we hold an annual Volunteer Celebration to say thank you to each of our volunteers and this year is no different!

On Weds 26th June we are hosting a Revive Volunteer Celebration BBQ and all of our volunteers should have received an invite. If you volunteer with Revive and haven’t received an invite please speak with your team leader for more info.

Finally, if you have time to give and would like to volunteer across any of our Revive projects in Bracknell, Windsor, Farnborough or West Wight we would love to talk with you. We are always on the look out for more people to get involved in a variety of areas.

A couple of particular areas we would highlight would be our CAP Debt Centre and Money Management Workshops and Kintsugi Hope Mental Health Wellbeing workshops. If you’re interested in finding out more about these or any of our other projects head over to our website or follow this link to start a conversation with us - Volunteer with Revive.

To end, we honour all who volunteer - past, present and future and here’s to many more years of making a difference together!

With much love,

Sarah Walker - Social Justice Lead
