A Day in the Life of CAP Debt Centre Manager Ken Evans….

No day is ever the same but below is a snapshot of what a typical day could look like!

I start the day by joining Simon Benham’s prayercast which I would thoroughly recommend. You can access it here.

At 9am the working day officially starts and whilst my CAP mobile and laptop are firing up I’ll say a short prayer for the day ahead. The first job is to check anything on yesterday’s ‘To Do’ list that I may not have completed before opening up my diary and sending out some text message reminders to clients I’ve got appointments with.

Now it’s time to open up the CAP system and scan for any new messages from head office which is located up in Bradford. It’s especially important to check for any new appointments that they may have sent through and if so make sure to update the diary and contact our wonderful befrienders to see if any are free to attend the visits and support the clients going forwards (Befrienders play such a crucial role in the work we do!)

I’ll then prepare for today’s client appointment and make sure all of the paper work that’s needed for the visit is printed and in order.

By now I’ll definitely need to have a coffee if I haven’t had one – my go to is Starbucks, but others are available!

Having checked my CAP emails, now is a good time to check any emails I’ve had via my Kerith email account as that can get pretty busy too!

Before meeting today’s client the befriender and I will meet up beforehand and pray briefly before knocking on the client’s door. Typically we may be at a client’s house for 2 hours and after much conversation and the offer of prayer we will usually leave armed with a mountain of paperwork and information for us to go through, along with a follow up appointment booked in the diary.

I will head on over to the Revive House on our Bracknell site where our office is based for another much needed coffee and some lunch. Afterwards I will update the clients file with the information we gathered, scan the paperwork we collected and send it to head office.

Now’s the time to check for any new emails or text messages and follow up any loose ends before touching base with the CAP Debt Coaches. Often we may need to make a referral to Foodbank or contact head office for some extra support for our clients. We will also sync our diaries and discuss any important dates or events coming up.

Finally I will update the ‘To Do List’ ready for tomorrow and finish the day in prayer, thanking God for all that’s been accomplished before heading home and maybe watching spurs on the TV if they are playing!

It’s A Knockout!

Back in the 70s and 80s teams gathered to tackle obstacle challenges all in the name of fun.

On 26th June we will be re-enacting the same fun-filled action-packed day in the name of raising money for Kerith Revive outreach projects…

Everyone is welcome to come along and watch or why not take part? More information can be found here. Please spread the word especially if you know of any local companies that might want to enter a team as part of a team building day. The more teams that take part, the more money we will raise!

Revive Volunteer Celebration

On the 28th April we held our Revive Volunteer Celebration for all the wonderful people that give up their time and serve so well within our Revive Ministries and Projects.

We had lunch together, celebrated one another and had some fun with a quiz and even a Revive Ministry knockout tournament!

Feedback from the event was really positive and we hope to make this a regular occurrence!

GOOD NEWS STORY

Recently a CAP client had been threatened with eviction and struggling with an unsustainable budget.  After much prayer and intervention the client is no longer being evicted and they have been awarded extra benefits which will have a significant positive impact for them going forward - God is good!

We also received this message from a client recently; “I have had a DRO (Debt Relief Order) approved and the feeling of freedom is beyond description. I did send a ‘thank you’ card to the head office but as its in Bradford, I don’t know if you would get to see it. So I just need to say a massive thank you for the part you played in setting me free (sounds a bit dramatic but its how it feels). Once again massive thanks”
