Giving Days

Over the next 2 Sundays (30th October & 6th November) across Kerith we are having ‘Giving Days’. These are Sundays where we want to encourage us as a church family to give financially to specific funds and projects. We will be highlighting 2 funds over the next 2 weeks, 1 on each Sunday, and I wanted to give you a heads up about each of them now.

1. This Sunday we will be highlighting the Cost of Living Crisis Fund. We know that it’s a really intense time for many people living on the edge of their bank accounts. Even with the support being offered by the government, it’s likely that the crisis will hit the working poor, pensioners or those with long term sickness, really hard. We want to be a community who help to meet each-others’ needs.

So for those of us who have plenty let’s give generously to help those who are struggling. And for those that are struggling, please can I encourage you to reach out. We are family and we want to support each other!

2. The following Sunday, 6th November, we will be highlighting The West Wight Building Fund. This is a new and exciting step for us, but doesn’t mean we’re about to do anything drastic or even have any specific plans! The Memorial Hall does what we need for now, but there are a number of limitations to it, including number of rooms for Kids & Youth groups, availability during the week for groups and social justice projects, the challenge of setting everything up every Sunday morning and the challenge of incorporating the Pantomime Castle into our Carol Service this year..! 😅 And so we believe that a building in some form is part of God’s plan for our future.

Money given to the West Wight Building Fund will be investing in the future of Kerith on the Isle of Wight. Whether bought or rented, it could be a place for Sunday meetings, children and youth groups and social justice projects such as CAP courses, Foodbanks and warm spaces.

We don’t know when or where that will be but we’re starting this fund as a statement of faith that we will be ready to step into the plans that God has for us. We will continue to trust Him as he leads us forwards in serving our community and helping to bring people back to God.

I’d love to encourage you to prayerfully consider what you can give to these funds. However big or small your gift, it is part of sowing into our community and into building God’s Kingdom here on the Isle of Wight.

You can give by following this link and choosing which fund your gift is for on the drop down menu. Or by using the giving box at church, and just writing on an envelope which fund it is for. If you're a UK Tax Payer, please remember to gift aid your donation.

If you are struggling financially and would appreciate some support, please get in touch and we would love to find a way to help. Just email west.wight@kerith.church
