Let’s pray about
Discipleship, Small Groups and Community

In Bracknell, our prayer focus for Monday is on how we grow healthily in discipleship within community.

This growth in our faith takes place in and beyond our Sunday gatherings. It happens in our small groups and all the other ways that we gather together in community — like the friendships we develop within our Sunday serving teams and Revive volunteer teams; in Encounter (midweek lunchtime fellowship); on our Summer picnics; during the prep and actual running of our Easter and Christmastime events; in our corporate prayer meetings; within our Kids, Youth and Young Adult ministries (the list goes on and on)! God has blessed us with so many expressions of community within Kerith, let’s be praying that those who feel like they’re on their own will find a group or community to call their own and grow. Remember that as a church, we are passionate about:

“Helping people find their way back to God
through communities growing in their love for God
and love for people.”

Through jubilant times, tough seasons and everywhere in between, we want to grow together in our love for Jesus and each other. Let’s keep supporting each other… “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)

Let’s pray!

Fasting….?

Fasting shows us how quickly we rely on things, rather than God. In Matthew 6: 17 Jesus says “When you fast..” not if. So there’s something in abstaining from food that is helpful enough that Jesus saw it as a given.

Fasting shows us how quickly we rely on things, rather than God. While fasting implies abstaining from food, it more importantly means a feasting on God - an utter dependence upon the presence of God beyond the sustenance of food. In doing so we prove the words Jesus quoted during His own fast: “…man does not live by bread alone but by every word that precedes from the mouth of God...”
